The Mountain Dweller Quilt Pattern Is Here!
This pattern is inspired by our new home in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Life here sure looks different than it did in Minnesota. More than ever, I've appreciated the opportunity to slow down and take in the scenery and joy of cozy, simple living. I hope that's what this pattern reflects.
About the Pattern
Mountain Dweller features half square triangles and is confident beginner skill level. The blocks are set on point. If you've never made an on-point quilt before, here's your sign! On point quilts can seem intimidating at first. But "on point" really just means that the blocks are rotated diagonally, and the quilt top is constructed in diagonal rows sewn together rather than in horizontal rows. Several of the Mountain Dweller pattern testers had never made an on-point quilt before, and they were all successful. Inside the pattern, I'll walk you through some basic but necessary pointers so you can be successful, too.
About the Cover Quilt
The cover quilt features Art Gallery Fabrics. The background is AGF solid in Northern Waters, and the prints are from Elizabeth Chappell's debut collection, Gayle Loraine. The whole collection is at once whimsical and grounding. If you'd like to purchase the finished quilt rather than make your own, head to my shop. I'm adding more finished quilts to the shop as I get settled into my new studio space.
Fabric Requirements
The pattern comes in 3 sizes: mini, lap, and throw, with 2 design options (scrappy or modern). The pattern is scrap, fat quarter, or yardage friendly. Below are the fabric requirements for the cover quilt throw size; you can visit the pattern listing in the shop for mini and lap fabric requirements.

Mountain Dweller Quilt Kits
Mallory of Fieldstone Fabrics has curated two special kits to choose from. Both kits feature Art Gallery Fabrics. The first kit uses Sharon Holland's "Listen To Your Heart" collection, as pictured below, and the second kit uses fabrics from the cover quilt, Elizabeth Chappell's debut collection, Gayle Loraine. Click on the photo below to find the kits.
Amanda of Sandiego Sewn created a stunning moody version made of FIGO and Ruby Star Society wovens. You can recreate her exact version with a kit from her shop. Click on the photo below to grab the kit.
Pattern Tester Versions
I've been incredibly lucky to work with such talented people from the quilting community in order to bring this pattern to life. Each tester brought their own personal style to the Mountain Dweller quilt; check out their versions below (in no specific order - they're all sensational) for inspiration. You can find each of these wonderful quilters and details on the specific fabrics they used over on Instagram.
